Directions for Playing
In this page you will find the resources needed to play our game. The latest version of the NDS file for Ripholes will be available once we determine it is ready to publish. For now, you will see workable prototypes that most likely have bugs roaming around.
In order to play Ripholes, you need one of the following things:
-
- To play on the PC:
- You will need a Nintendo DS emulator. The one we use to debug our game is No$Gba (pronounced "no cash jee bee ae"). You can find a freeware version on that site to download.
1) Download and install the emulator No$Gba. Instructions can be found on that site.
2) Download the Ripholes NDS file onto your disk.
3) Launch No$GBA and go toFile > Cartridge Menu (FileName)and browse your computer to where you saved the Ripholes NDS. Select the NDS files and click "Open."
4) The game will load in the emulator. Play and have fun!
-
- To play on the NDS:
- You will need a Nintendo DS and a flash cart. We use the R4 and will be providing instructions for it, though the process is pretty much the same for other flash carts. Flash carts will require a microSD card to store software.
1) Connect your microSD card to your computer via a memory card adapter or a flash drive converter. These pieces usually come with your flash cart upon purchase. If not, you can buy them from a consumer electronics store.
2) Download the Ripholes NDS file onto your disk.
3) Copy or move the Ripholes NDS file onto your microDS card. To do this, open up the microSD card on your computer and look at its contents. You will see some folders and other files. You can do one of the following things: a) save the Ripholes NDS file to the ROOT of the microDS directory or b) create a new folder and save the Ripholes NDS file there.
4) Safely eject your microSD card and place it back into the flash cart. Put the flash cart into your Nintendo DS and start up the game according to where you saved it in your filesystem.
Note: We don't promote or endorse the use of flash carts to pirate commercially copyrighted video games. Please reserve your flash carts for homebrewed software.
